How to Apply Status Effects in Valheim
Use addstatus to apply any Valheim status effect — Rested, Wishbone, Burning, Wisplight — and clearstatus to remove them all. Full ID list by category.
Status effects in Valheim are the buffs and debuffs that pop up in the corner of the screen — Rested, Wet, Cold, Burning, Wishbone. Almost all of them can be applied directly with the addstatus command, useful for testing gear, RP scenarios, or just curiosity about what each effect actually does. clearstatus wipes them all back off.
Cheats need to be enabled. See how to enable cheats in Valheim.
Apply a status effect
addstatus applies the named effect to your character. The effect uses its normal duration (or stays until removed for permanent ones). Full ID list on the status effects reference.

spawn TrainingDummyaddstatus Burning(or Poison, etc.) — see how your DoT applies.clearstatuswhen done.

Test how Wet + Frost stacks
addstatus WetEffectaddstatus FrostEffect- Look at how much regen you have left.
clearstatus.
Aggravating neutral creatures
Not strictly a status effect, but useful in the same context — forcing all nearby neutral creatures (boars, deer, lox) to attack you:
aggravate aggros every neutral entity within 20m. Useful for testing defenses against creatures that normally won't pick a fight.
Common gotchas
- Status IDs are case-sensitive PascalCase.
addstatus burningfails;addstatus Burningworks. Watch out for the mid-word capital inRestedEffect,WetEffect,ColdEffect. - Duration depends on the effect. Some are permanent (Wishbone) until cleared; others tick down (Burning lasts 5 seconds, Tarred 10 seconds). The status icon's countdown ring is your reference.
- clearstatus is all-or-nothing. Want to remove only Burning but keep Rested? You can't with commands. Wait it out or take the regen hit and reapply Rested after.
- Effects don't stack.
addstatus Burningthree times still leaves you with one Burning timer, not three concurrent ones. - Stagger has no internal cleanup. Applying
Staggervia the command stuns you for the default duration; you can't move until it ends.
