Overview
Crossbows is one of Valheim's character skills, tracked under the internal ID Crossbows. Determines damage, stamina cost and draw time with Crossbows. Experience is gained at 1 per bolt when hitting a creature. At max level (100) it grants +131% damage and knockback,-50% reload time. Adjust your level from the console with raiseskill Crossbows 10 to add 10 points, or resetskill Crossbows to wipe it back to 0.

About
Crossbows is a skill and a weapon class.
Crossbows shoot equipped bolts and cannot be retrieved. Loading itself takes 4 seconds and uses 4 stamina, however, with the firing, loading, and readying animations, it can only be fired every 6 seconds. Jumping and sprinting resets the loading progress and bolts cannot be loaded while sprinting.
After the crossbow is loaded it can be fired at any time at no stamina cost. After firing, another bolt will need to be loaded. The bolts do not stay loaded when switching to other weapons, so a bolt is loaded whenever the item is equipped.
